Smartphone integration in your car’s conduct unit isn’t of all that most use if it’s usually going to play nice with a single mark or an additional (we’re seeking during you, Mini Connected). Johnson Controls is being rather more open with what it’s calling a Connected Center Stack, fundamentally the horizon which OEMs and aftermarket radio makers can setup on to create their ultimate infotainment scheme. It quite naturally connected and played audio over USB or Bluetooth, augmenting which with await for Pandora as well as even Terminal Mode, as implemented on the Nokia N97, replicating the phone’s UI exactly. There are both touchscreen and jog dial controls, and a section can get interpretation possibly without delay from the smartphone or by a USB continuous 3G modem. Or that’s the speculation, at least. The section on display was the little buggy and not reliable sufficient for us to get a video of it in action, though with any luck it’ll be cleaned up and attack manufacture center stacks… in the future.
