Accused Xbox 360 modder finds box agreeably discharged

The box of 28-year old CSU tyro Matthew Crippen has come as well as left. Arrested last year on Digital Millennium Copyright Act violations — specifically, for modding Xbox 360s to capacitate them to play pirated games — federal prosecutor Allen Chiu announced on a third day of trial that a supervision was dropping its case opposite him “based on integrity and probity.” It’s not the finish surprise: according to Wired, on a previous day (Wednesday), an undercover agent testifying opposite Crippen claimed the defendant used a pirated game to exam a modded console in his participation. That detail, required for the prosecution’s box (the make use of of pirated software), was never referred to in any of the prior reports or sworn declarations, so once a decider dismissed it as evidence, a box opposite Crippen strike the obstacle. Source link’s got a full, really interesting tale, though if you’re patient, there’s always a chance a single of a Law as well as Orders will collect up the story in the years to come.
