OQO crawls behind from a passed, releasing Model 03 in China this month (Updated)

Holy moly! We honestly never saw this entrance. If you recall, the final you listened from OQO was when it pronounced the last goodbye back in May 2009, as well as even currently the website still declares a association “out of commercial operation.” Well, that’s not just the case anymore — the little investigate led us to CCW, which reports that Audiotone — OQO’s commercial operation partner in China — reliable a successful merger with a UMPC manufacturer in April this year (on a condition that a latter’s R&D to sojourn in the US). This would insist because OQO’s Chinese site was still being updated with news after a “closure,” while its Western reflection remained frozen in time.

The juicier headlines, however, is that OQO’s rising the Model 03 for Chinese buyers in Q3 2010 (and a website’s ensign privately says August). Don’t be fooled by the indication number, yet — this 15-ounce device essentially shares the same framework with a Model 02, but is right away packed with Windows 7, Intel Atom Z500 series chip, SSD, 3G airwave (compatible with WCDMA, EVDO and TD-SCDMA), as well as the 4.8-inch 1024 x 600 multitouch LCD (previously 5-inch 800 x 480 single-touch). You’ll also get a same aged Bluetooth, WiFi, built-in mic and HDMI opposite a 4 flavors: Gold, Diamond, Elite as well as Business, that operation from 1.2GHz to 2GHz, 32GB to 128GB (1GB to 2GB of IMPEL, as well as ¥12,999 ($1,919) to the whopping ¥31,888 ($4,708). Well, these have been still far from what many of us would cruise as affordable, so here’s anticipating a Chinese marketplace will keep OQO alive until it can move us a little cheaper alternatives. Or at slightest equivocate sending the company to its second wake.

Update: Eerily, the long immobile OQO home page has been updated with the short, but telling bit of content during a bottom of a page: “We did not sell out to Audiotone. Anything by them is the Clone.” So most for the ressurrection. [Thanks, Picasso]

Update 2: Looks similar to a previous OQO home page refurbish is a hack… by zombies!

Audiotone does not own OQO. It has stolen and copied the OQO and the OQO brand name.
