Hard to believe that a barbarous “fragmentation” term is now being bandied about in a web browser universe, but certain sufficient, it’s Microsoft regulating a term currently to describe a brave brand new realm we’re living in. If you’ll stop, Google defended its preference to not embody H.264 await natively in Chrome, but maintained which WebM plug-ins were coming to Safari and Internet Explorer 9. Today, Microsoft’s kinda-sorta returning a favor. Following the outfit’s release of a Firefox add-on to bring full H.264 await to Windows machines, the outfit is releasing a plug-in for Chrome (only a Windows version for right away that provides support for H.264. Furthermore, it’s committed to ancillary third-party WebM video plug-ins; to allude to, users “will be able to play WebM video in IE9.” It’s sincerely obvious which Microsoft’s receiving this golden event to pull the browser as one which supports all (rather than just the own elite format), but in any case of a motives, we’re just happy to see differences put aside as well as compatibility finding priority.
