Researcher promises petabyte Hyper-CDs as you onslaught to say seductiveness

Holographic storage sure has the lot of potential, but so distant all those promises have resulted in nothing some-more than damaged dreams. Now we have a little new promises, promises that we’ll report with due doubt. Romanian scientist Eugen Pavel is pledging which his association, Storex Technologies, can emanate the “Hyper” CD-sized front (120mm diameter, 1.2mm density able of absorbing the whopping 1,000,000GB. Yes, a petabyte upon the front. This could (in speculation be completed interjection to the company’s imagination in “glass-ceramics compositions as well as read/write mechanics and optics concept(s) applicable to high-density interpretation storage.” You know, a capability to fit lots of stuff into tiny crevasses. Pavel additionally claims the 5,000 year front lifetime, that is interesting, because behind in 2000 he talked to PC World about another front that could final 5,000 years — one which would store the whopping 10TB. There is, assumingly, no expiration date upon his optimism. Ours, however, is getting the wee bit seared.
